Chương 4

The rapid advancement of technology has transformed many aspects of modern life, and education is no exception. Computers and digital devices are now widely used in classrooms around the world. While many people argue that this development brings numerous benefits to both teachers and learners, others believe that excessive reliance on technology may reduce valuable face-to-face interaction. This essay will examine both sides of the issue.
On the one hand, technology offers several clear advantages in educational settings. First, it greatly enhances efficiency. Students can access learning materials instantly, revise lessons at their own pace, and explore additional resources online. Teachers also benefit from tools that automate grading, track student progress, and deliver multimedia lessons that make complex concepts easier to understand. For example, platforms such as Google Classroom or Khan Academy have enabled students to continue learning effectively even during school closures in the COVID-19 pandemic. Without these technological tools, maintaining educational continuity would have been far more challenging.
On the other hand, the increased use of computers in classrooms is not without drawbacks. One major concern is that students may experience reduced human interaction. Traditional classroom discussions, group work, and direct communication with teachers are essential for developing social and emotional skills; however, these activities may decline when lessons rely heavily on digital screens. Furthermore, technology can be a source of distraction, as students may easily switch to games or social media. Over-dependence on devices may also lead to weaker handwriting, reduced critical thinking, or difficulties engaging in real-world conversations.
In conclusion, technology can significantly improve the quality and accessibility of education, but it also presents challenges that should not be overlooked. A balanced approach—in which digital tools complement rather than replace human interaction—offers the most effective path for modern classrooms.
